Nancy Rost: Music

Laughter in the Afternoon

(Nancy Rost)
Copyright 2008, Words by Nancy Rost, music by Andrew Dwyer
Leave your daily tether
Let's go out into the weather
For a pleasurable hour three or four
No sense being busy
We can spin until we're dizzy
Playing chase in the revolving door

Laughter in the afternoon

The clouds are cotton candy
Let's go eat them, take my hand and
We will find the steepest hill to climb
Or we can dig a tunnel
Have a funky kind of fun
Spelunking in the caverns of our minds

Laughter in the afternoon

When the sun has turned chartreuse
and fuchsia, let's lie down and snooze
And lose ourselves in labyrinthine dreams
Supersonic spirals sparking
Semiconscious smiles
Under soporific summer beams

Laughter in the afternoon
